Barry J. Szymczak
Szymczak has been a resident of the City of Burbank since 1987. He is a
graduate of Brother Rice High School, Class of '71. He and his wife Grace
have a son, daughter and 3 grandchildren. After graduation, he was employed
at Sherwood Florist in Chicago, his family owned business. In 2003 , the
business closed after 45 years of serving the community. Barry then was
employed at Lawn Funeral Home in Burbank from January 2004 until his
election to the City Clerk's office in April 2017. He served as a member /
secretary of the Fire-Police Commission from 1996 to 2008, and then 2+ terms
as Alderman of the 3rd Ward of the City of Burbank, along with Committee
Chairman of Public Works.
The City of Burbank was incorporated as a city on April 4, 1970, and
presently operates under the Aldermanic-City form of government. Under this
form of government, the Mayor, Treasurer, City Clerk and 7 Alderman are
elected for a term of four years. The City Council meets the 2nd and 4th
Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the second
floor of City Hall. These are public meetings and citizens are invited to
attend and to observe their government in action. Prior to adjournment,
questions and comments are invited from the floor.
The City of
Burbank has partnered with
PROCHAMPS.com to administer its Foreclosure property registration
program. In order to comply with the foreclosure property registration
ordinance, all mortgagees must register online via
PROCHAMPS.com and pay a registration fee.
Burbank ordinance 8-482 all solicitors or peddlers are required to
obtain a permit prior to canvassing the city. All permits are issued
through the office of the city clerk located at Burbank City Hall
between regular business hours. The below link may be printed,

Sec. 8-483. - Permit application.
Any person who desires to engage in peddling or solicitation
activities shall file with the city clerk an application in writing,
on a form to be furnished by the city clerk, which shall consist of
the following information:
Name, address, age and telephone number of the applicant, which
shall be confirmed through the applicant's driver's license or state
identification card, articles of incorporation, or other legally
recognized form of identification;
A brief description of the business or activity;
If acting as an employee of an employer, the name, address and
telephone number of the employer; or if acting as an agent, the
name, address and telephone number of the principal who is being
represented, with credentials in written form establishing the
relationship and the authority of the employee or agent to act for
the employer or principal, as the case may be;
A statement as to whether or not the applicant has been convicted or
pleaded guilty to a felony or misdemeanor, the nature of the
offense, and the date of the conviction or plea;
A statement as to whether the applicant has had a permit denied,
suspended or revoked for noncompliance with this article in the
Proof of possession of any license or permit which, under federal,
state or local law, the applicant is required to have in order to
conduct the proposed business, or which, under any such law, would
exempt the applicant from the licensing requirements of this

within sixty (60) days immediately preceding the date of filing of
the application. The photographs shall be of a size common to a
